Have you read the news today? Nothing ever goes your way Torch lit chambers in your heart Blood like lava in the dark I’ve seen you fade, I’ve seen you fade away I’ve seen the brilliant colors fade away It’s the nightmare that you feared Closing on your caveman flare Ancient riddles that dissolve all that you have ever loved I’ve seen you fade, I’ve seen you fade away I’ve seen the light inside you fade away Steel and pavement line the way To electric signs that say You can buy anything It’s a brave new world they say. And there’s no day like today But the gutters wind their way Through your memories anyway I’ve seen you fade, I’ve seen you fade away I’ve seen you fade, I’ve seen you fade away

You’re so lovely, Oh so lovely Incubus of milk and honey You’re looking down the aisle at rose petals upon soft clouds of pure white snow Underneath the rainbow There is a pot of gold Avarice in wonderland down the rabbit hole Spread your velvet wings and shade me from the sun There’s no going back the eclipse has begun Shiva wrap me in your arms and take me now There’s no going back even if I knew how You’re so pretty, Oh so pretty In your mourning dress so pretty You’re looking down the aisle at old acquaintances Who once knew you so well Underneath the rainbow There is a pot of gold Avarice in wonderland down the rabbit hole Spread your velvet wings and shade me from the sun There’s no going back the eclipse has begun Shiva wrap me in your arms and take me now There’s no going back even if I knew how

I was in awe of your conviction like slaves that bathed with Cleopatra Would I care that you never saw me If I could somehow scrub off the fear Shrinking violet dress Pandora to the rhythm of a broken heart Words so lonely seekinglovers fall like rain from darkened skies Imagine me in a collection gathered in the attic Lovingly flowered and scented with all I play and sing Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo The sun will come out tomorrow Two lonely girls, one in a mirror We smile and shine with a soft thunder We wonder if they ever wonder what it's like to see me like I do Inhibition twisting constricting My skin so tight my soul is shrinking Blow a kiss and tickle my sister Purging shadows spiced with cinnamon Imagine me in a collection gathered in the attic lovingly flowered and scented with all I play and sing Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo The sun will come out tomorrow

Leave me alone to my drink I've been turning these gears for some years but I still don't know just what to think When they put me down into the ground I'll have spent all these years with tuned ears but I still don’t know what you're about What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are You set your watch to my heartbeat I've kept up the pace in this race it's repeat and repeat and repeat When you chatter like I know you chatter You wind us up so damn tight but in the end I guess it won't matter What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are You push my buttons, I push your buttons the countdown descending deep down inside (x2) What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are What a clever thing - What a clever thing you are You push my buttons, I push your buttons the countdown descending deep down inside (x4)

Stranger 03:35
Another day another town Another unannounced arrival A dusty angel with straw wings unveils the heavens as a hole through which his god came tumbling through Reflecting back and shining through Your eyes like neon through barred windows The distant murmur of machines was somehow soothing lulling you into a deep and distant sleep No matter where you go you know you’ll always be the stranger always on your own and every day the world outside just gets a little less familiar but it’s all you’ve ever known Another rumble in the clouds The valley stretches out beneath your feet The rain will come you said and fill up all the rivers Washing all your thoughts into a deep blue sea You said you wouldn’t be around to see the spiritual revival You tapped their lines and heard the echoes of a whisper somewhere in a canyon carved out long ago No matter where you go you know you’ll always be the stranger always on your own and every day the world outside just gets a little less familiar but it’s all you’ve ever known

Misanthropic 03:41
My feet are moving my thoughts are vacant Following snail trails on the pavement You told a joke from some magazine I don’t like jokes they’re never funny Tonight I am autonomy. No straight jacket or cell can hold me Misanthropic and I’m running wild. Tonight I am an animal And you’ll never never never never, never never never never never never touch me again I think you think I owe you something And if you want I’ll tell you something I’m not in charge I only fake it Run for your life before I take it Tonight I am autonomy. No straight jacket or cell can hold me Misanthropic and I’m running wild. Tonight I am an animal And you’ll never never never never, never never never never never never touch me again My heart is beating my hands are shaking A sense in me has been awakened I see the sludge behind your eyes You represent all that I despise Tonight I am autonomy. No straight jacket or cell can hold me Misanthropic and I’m running wild. Tonight I am an animal And you’ll never never never never, never never never never never never touch me again

Grey clouds blot out the sky no sun, no time, no silver linings show Above the aqueducts and roads that reel the drifters back to Rome The elements have plans for architects to catch each man and float his body home By day the builders toil by night they hide behind their walls of stone protection from the beasts the horde the vile horrors of the unknown the stories have been told and honed with words so sharp and cold they'll cut you to the bone There is a boy who's counting sheepish clouds waiting for sleep to come unaware of the growing forces pushing industry along the gears will grind his gods down into more efficient ones there's much work to be done Columns and rows of soldiers borders stretching sea to shiny sea a new world order purges cultures in the name of unity but if it's kneel or die at gunpoint I'll take death and God Damn yo ho it's the pirates life for me There is a king who struggles with the pieces on the chessboard campaigning to liberate heathens from their dark overlords but when the kingdoms are all one where will there be a place for a wretch like me There is a god who's rolling marbles across heavenly bodies and planting blueprints for delicate wonders into tiny seeds there are no secrets kept not even from a worthless servile scumbag fuck like me

about

Avarice In Wonderland is the second official full length release from Boston based Blood Drive. Expanding on the Garage/Psych/Punk sound, Avarice In Wonderland explores new territory and along with classic Blood Drive rockers hints of funk, western, and even the ballad are heard. This album is a diverse audio experience... in a good way. As always, when listening to music of this kind, it is best experienced LOUD!
